One of Henry Chittenden’s electric streetcars is coming down the street. You can also see the illuminated arches that dominated the downtown streetscape back then. Statehouse grounds are on your right.
In the background, a little right of center, is 16 E. Broad St. Built in 1900, it was the tallest building (13 floors, 180 feet) in the city until 1906. It alone of the buildings in this image still stands today.
